CHC Expands Service Contract with Goscor

Leading logistics and container depot operator CHC Resources has expanded its service contract with Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC), taking the relationship from a regional one, focused on KwaZulu-Natal, to a nationwide partnership.

As part of the expanded relationship, CHC Resources, which has offices and warehouses in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, has ordered a mixed fleet of 25 lift trucks for their national operations.

Sayed Mohamad, group logistics manager at CHC Resources, says that moving the national fleet to Goscor was a logical step for the group. “We have worked with Goscor in Durban since 2004, and have come to know the company for the excellent quality of its products and support service, which includes ongoing maintenance of all equipment supplied,” Mohamad says.

Darryl Shafto, GLTC MD, says that he is delighted about CHC Resources expanded use of Goscor equipment. “They are a thoroughly professional organisation and they appreciate the excellent quality of our products and service. We will continue to find ways of meeting their high standards,” Shafto says.

The 25 lift trucks that GLTC will deliver to CHC Resources nationwide include 2.5-ton and
5-ton trucks from Doosan, as well as Crown electric counterbalanced trucks and reach trucks. All the trucks have container entry masts for offloading inside containers.

Crown is the world leader in the manufacture of electric materials handling equipment. Catering to the ever-changing demands of warehousing, Crown has equipment to suit every conceivable warehouse application.

Doosan is a world-class manufacturer of one of the finest selections of lift trucks. The company’s “brakes for life” system significantly reduces operating costs and GLTC offers a 60-month, unlimited hours guarantee on it. These brakes and Doosan’s sub-tropical radiators are ideal for a wide range of conditions including harsh, abrasive coastal climates.

“Crown and Doosan both produce very high quality machines. They are reliable, durable, and hard-working, which is exactly what we require in our operation. We really work these trucks hard, and they stand up to the test,” says Mohamad.

CHC Resources was founded in Johannesburg in 1987, and today holds an impressive position in the container depot industry. The company sees its competitive edge in the strength of its principals and partners, many of whom are respected multinational corporations, including Spanish mining giant GRUPO Crimidesa, ExxonMobil, FMC Corporation and many others.

GLTC, part of the Goscor group, is the sole distributor in South Africa of leading global brands and apart from Crown and Doosan also has the fast-growing Bendi range of articulated forklifts in its stable.

The Goscor Group, part of the Imperial Group, has been supplying the local market with state-of-the-art industrial equipment and solutions for 26 years.
